Locked in Syndrome: Breaking out

Miranda Meldrum is, she believes, the youngest survivor of Locked In Syndrome. A brain haemorrhage at 13 left the Bradford-on-Avon schoolgirl entombed in her own body. She could not move. She could not talk. Her mother was told Miranda would die. And was even offered palliative care at home or in hospital. Then, Miranda's body slowly started to wake up. Few people have ever broken free of Locked In Syndrome. Now 15, Miranda is back at home, back at school and working hard to walk again using a homemade contraption in her garage. She spends up to six hours a day on her physiotherapy. She dreams of being an animal behaviourist.
