Thomas Schreiber convicted of murdering Sir Richard Sutton.

A jury has convicted the artist, Thomas Schreiber, of murdering one of Britain's richest men. Sir Richard Sutton was an 83-year-old baronet whose large estate and investments included upmarket London hotels.

The trial at Winchester Crown Court heard Schreiber admitted the manslaughter of Sir Richard. But he said he was suffering from 'diminished responsibility' at the time of the attack.

Schreiber paralysed his mother, Anne, in the attack. She was Sir Richard's partner. The court heard Schreiber felt slighted by his family and humiliated by Sir Richard's fortune.

The jury did not agree with Schreiber's defence and convicted him of Sir Richard's murder and Anne Schreiber's attempted murder.
